Pixi Overnight Glow Serum

Confession time: I'm a bit of a skincare junkie. Even on my last trip to the Big Apple I purchased way too many skincare from Ordinary and went a bit shopping crazy in Ulta Beauty and Sephora. I still love make-up but it's much better to get good skin so you don't need to cover up the bad. And believe me I have a lot of bad. Acne, scarring, redness, large pores and all that jazz. That's maybe why I love skincare so much. To see what actually does something to my skin to make it all go away.

Today, I want to talk to you about one of the products that actually does something to my skin: the Pixi Overnight Glow Serum. You might know Pixi from their hyped up Glow Tonic, which I LOVE a lot too. I have been using it for years and this serum is even better than that. Like that can be possible?

The Pixi Overnight Glow Serum is exactly what it says in the name. The serum has a thick consistency that I leave on overnight and I wake up with the most amazing glow. Isn't that what we all want in a skincare product?
According to the Pixi website it exfoliates and soothes skin and it's a miracle serum that works while you sleep to reveal a brighter complexion. It's formulated with 10% glycolic acid & arginine that helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and fade sun spots over time and is enriched with cucumber & aloe vera extracts to calm skin and vitamins A, C & E to nourish.

I use it in the PM -otherwise it's not overnight, right?- and this is the last serum that I put on my face. The dropper is one of the only things I don't like as much since the serum can get everywhere if you are not careful. I put 1-2 drops on my hand and massage it into my skin. It can sting a bit, but for me that's a sign that it's working. I leave it on a bit before I add my moisturizer and pop into bed for some well rested beauty sleep -after binge watching season two of 13 Reasons Why, obviously-.

The next morning I wake up with the most glowy skin in the world. I have combination/oily skin too so there is lots of shine there, but when all that goes down the drain with my Face Cleanser from First Aid Beauty I am left with such an amazing glow. My skin seems more even, the scars are faded a bit and the redness is not as present as before.
I know this sounds too good to be true, but I honestly love this product a lot. With £26 for 30 ml it's on a higher price range but compared to other beauty brands I think it's still reasonable.

If you are looking to try out a product from Pixi or searching for a good glowy serum this babe is the one. I love it even more than the Glow Tonic, so even if the tonic didn't work for you this probably will. Your dull and tired skin will thank you for it!

Pixi Beauty + Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse

Pixi Beauty always has a special place in my heart. Their Glow Tonic is worth all the hype and I have been repurchasing this wonderful product for about five years. At the beginning of this year I popped into the Pixi Store at Carnaby Street, London to pick up yet another bottle of Glow Tonic when I saw this product. I had actually heard a bit about a product created by skincare goddess Caroline Hirons in collaboration with Pixi: The Double Cleanse. Since she does know a thing or two about good skincare and I can never say no to a cleansing balm I picked it up.

This all took place at the beginning of this year and you are probable wondering why it would take me so long to try it out. Well, I was finishing up my bottle of the Una Brennan Cleansing Oil and I am quite scared of trying new skincare products. Especially cleansing balms and oils, since I have had a few bad reactions to these kinds of products in the past. After one use I already knew that there was nothing to be afraid of, because well, this product is the dreamiest thing ever.

The Double Cleanse is a 2-in-1 cleaner with a solid cleanser on one end and a cleansing cream on the other. I am a huge fan of double cleansing and I think this product absolutely nails it. First, the cleansing oil removes oil, dirt, make-up and sunscreen. It's full of vitamin E, camellia oil and evening primrose oil to heal, protect and nourish the skin. The cleansing cream cleanses and conditions the skin to prep it for the rest of your skincare routine. They added Vitamin C to the luxe cleansing cream, which I think makes it even better. It's also fragrance and paraben free and not tested on animals.

I like to use a pea size of both cleansers and massage them on my face for about 30 seconds. I take the cleansing balm off with a cloth and some warm water and the same goes for the cleansing cream. After, my skin feels so radiant, soft and healthy. I also feel like my skin is smoother and less prone to acne.

Now there are some cons. Personally, I don't like the fact that it's in a jar. I love cleansers in a tube, because it's much easier and hygienic. Now I scoop out the cleaners with a cotton bud to keep my germs away from the product as best as I can. It's also on the pricier side (£24), but I can totally justify that now that I know how amazing my skin looks after using it.

If you are a cleansing balm hoarder then I would definitely recommend this product (also if you are not skincare obsessed you will love it). I think the two products work so well together to make the skin plump, glowy and healthy. One jar will probably last for about three to four months, which is reasonable as well. Hopefully Pixi will bring out a travel size, because it has to come on holiday with me. Think about how cute a tiny Double Cleanse would be!

Have you tried the Double Cleanse from Pixi Beauty already? What are your thoughts on this product?

My Skincare Routine

Since I was a teenager I have been obsessed with skincare products. Maybe because my skin was in such a horrible state that I was desperately trying out products to fix everything. Sadly making your skin free of acne, redness and scarring doesn't happen overnight. Although I kind of wish it did.

For the last couple of years I have been really sticking to the same routine. Using the same products religiously every day and never ever sleeping with my make-up on. I don't understand how women do that like it's no big deal. Doesn't your face feel like such a greaseball? And how does your pillow case look? Weird questions that pop into my mind from time to time.

Anyways, today I am sharing my current skincare regime. I have found it to really affect my skin in a positive way and I hope that this will continue until my skin is glowy, even and completely acne free!

*Also a note: I use a sheet mask like that once a week, I am not THAT crazy about skincare haha*

Pixi Glow Tonic To-Go

If I had to sum up my favourite skincare brands Pixi is at the top. Their Glow Tonic is the most amazing toner and I have been using it for many years. Every time I hop on a plane to London I always make sure to pay their Carnaby store a visit. It's so pretty and stocked with all these amazing products that I feel like a kid in a candy store.

On my last London visit I was determined to pick up another bottle of Glow Tonic until I saw this box of cleansing pads: Glow Tonic To-Go. The thing that got me excited about it was the 'to-go' part. I have a lot of trips planned and travelling with a cabin bag is a nightmare for a skincare and make-up obsessed girl like me. How do people even fit their entire beauty regime in a small clear bag? There are just some things that I will never understand.

Anyways, I brought these with me when I went to Copenhagen and they were such a lifesaver. Not only did they save space for other liquids, they were an ultimate skincare staple for me. There are 60 pads in there that are fully drenched in Glow Tonic. Perfect as the finishing touch to my cleansing routine. Especially when you are in a hostel and don't have your normal stuff with you. -I really tried, but the liquids rule ughh-.

If you have never heard about the Pixi Glow Tonic before and you have made it this far you probably want to know a bit more about it. It's an exfoliating tonic with 5% glycolic, aloe vera and ginseng. It helps to tone, firm and tighten the skin and makes it look all glowy and healthy. And who doesn't want that?

The weird thing is that it does all these things. I have been using it for about four years and it has never let me down. Next time I will buy a bottle of this magic liquid because that lasts longer than the to-go pads and ya know I'm all about saving money. Kind of.

Have you tried the Pixi Glow Tonic before?

The London Haul 2017

There it is again: a haul! I've shopped quite a lot the past couple of months and I'm here to say that this will probably be one of my last hauls for the next few months. I just buy way too much!
When I'm in London I can't resist going to Oxford Street and pop into Primark and Boots. So that's what I did. It's not as much as last time -which is what I always say- but I did pick up a few bits and pieces that I enjoy using a lot. Some old favourites, some new classics and a lot of stuff in between. Enjoy!

A Pixi Haul

You know that going to the Pixi store near Carnaby Street is always on my London to-do list. I am in love with their Glow Tonic and even the thought of running out of this wonder product is freaking me out. So when I went to London for one day, almost two months ago, I had to squeeze in a quick visit.
I had already done my research and saw that they have a big sis to the Glow Tonic aka the Glow Mist. A little bottle that will make my skin even more glowing, luminous and smooth. I have only tried the MAC Fix + and I love that! The Glow Mist has propolis and argan oil in it and smells very fresh. I haven't tried it out well enough, but a full review is on its way!
It was a bit of damage for my bank account when I picked up these two products (Glow Tonic £18 & Glow Mist £16), but it was all worth it. Combining this with the fact that I already spent about £150 on make-up and other skincare bits in Boots and Superdrug. It was definitely a successful shopping trip!
I also just had a browse on their website, because I needed to look up the prices, and I see they also have a Glow Mud Cleanser, Nourishing Cleansing Balm and Cleansing Cloths (OMGGG). Guess what I will be buying when I am back in London! (I do really think I have a problem #bbloggers)

Have you tried anything from Pixi before?

The London Haul + Vlog

As you all know I went on a trip to London a few weeks ago. I saw all the highlights of the city and of course shopped a lot. I rambled up all my adventures in a post that you can read HERE.
As a beauty addict I couldn’t leave the British drugstores unvisited, since there are many good products in there. I went a bit too crazy in Boots and Superdrug, I have to admit, but I got everything I wanted!
As for fashion, I also went a bit cray cray. I love the style of many British bloggers, so to actually go to Topshop, Primark and New Look was amazing!

Instead of doing a blog haul, I decided to make a video out of it. Making Youtube videos is something I always wanted to do, so here it is: My first ever haul!

A few things:
1. I had a bad hair day and putting it up in a ponytail clearly didn't solve the problem.
2. I say the words 'super duper' and 'love' a lot in this video. Mainly because I was super duper excited about London, but in the future I will try to not use them as much. :p
3. The quality is a bit off, but I am hopefully getting a new camera in the upcoming months! :)

The Glowing Wonder

During my trip to London in 2013, I discovered a new toner. I am quite picky when it comes to skincare, so to find a new product that I liked, was very exciting for me. Back home I loved it more and more and I was very sad when the bottle was empty.
Luckily I went to London around Christmas and I immediately walked to Carnaby Street to buy a new toner. The Pixi store is small, bright and full of products that make my heart skip a beat. They had plenty of bottles of the toner that I desired: the Pixi Glow Tonic. A new bottle with the same amazing liquid inside, that makes my skin look glowy and healthy.
It’s not your regular toner. The Pixi Glow Tonic helps to tone, firm and tighten the skin and exfoliates it for a healthy glow
I have definitely seen a difference in my skin, when I started to use it again. My skin looks more radiant and healthy, like I have just done a juice detox.  The application of my face make-up also has never been better. Everything blends in so seamlessly and makes it appear flawless.  I cannot wait to go back to London and stock up on more bottles of this wonder toner!

I have actually written about this product before; back in the day where my blogging skills were not very good. Since I love this product so much it is worthy of a second mention, right?

Beauty Talk | Five Beauty Products I Can't Live Without

Recently I have been thinking. What if I can only keep five beauty products? What would I choose? I came to the conclusion that these five lifesavers really are my favourite products. I use them every day and as the title says: I can't live without them.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
This is the most used product out of everything I own. I have to admit I am quite the lip balm junkie. Some people carry ten lipsticks around, for me its lip balm (I also carry a lot of lipsticks around in my bag, don't judge me!). My two favourites out all of them are the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and a Dutch wonder called 'Purol'. These two make my lips so soft and moisturized. I have plenty of Eight Hour Creams around, so at the moment this is my absolute favourite!

MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer
Concealer is my BEST friend when it comes to make-up. I like to wear foundation, but it doesn't cover up everything. This concealer on the other hand has no problem with giving good coverage and a natural finish that last all day. I have the colour NC15 which matches me perfectly! Absolutely love it!

Catrice Matt Powder
A lifesaving product for girls with combination/oily skin, like me. During the day my t-zone gets oily and let’s just say that it doesn't look good. With the help of this powder I can keep my shine to a minimum. A few touch ups during the day and I am good to go!

Pixi Glow Tonic
After rediscovering this last month I cannot live without it anymore. I absolutely love the way this makes my skin feel and look! I don't get a lot of break outs anymore and it gives you a wonderful glow. Yep, the name of this beauty does what it says. I also saw that they sell it online. Hopefully they do ship to The Netherlands. Although a city trip to London does sound good right?
Catrice Eyebrow powder + Eyebrow Gel
I know that there are two of them, but I couldn’t choose. I love the way the brow powder makes my brows look fuller and thicker. The brow gel just keeps them in place and lifts them up. A perfect combo if you ask me.

Skincare | Updated Skincare Routine 2013

So I did a skincare routine probably about a year ago. Since that it has changed a lot. So I felt like it was time to share my new skincare routine with you.

Morning routine:

In the morning I don't really do a lot. I wash my face with the Cetaphil Cleanser, than I dry my face with a towel and moisturise my face with the Kiehls Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion.

I want to do more though, but I have no idea what..

Evening routine:

So in the evening I do a way more than in the morning. I have a lot of steps that I do every evening.

Step 1: I start with washing my hands. This way I have no bacteria on my hands.

Step 2: Taking of my eye make-up. I use a drugstore eye cleansing oil with a cotton pad (not in photo) and make sure that all my eye make-up is removed.

Step 3: I take 2-3 pumps of the MAC Cleansing Oil and massage that into my face. Then I rinse my face with lukewarm water so that most of the make-up and oil is of my face.

Step 4: I take a pea size amount of the Philosophy Purity Cleanser and massage that in to my face. My face is still wet so I do not have to add water. I recently rediscovered my face brush (not in photo). It is a small brush that you can use to cleanse your face. I make the brush wet and use circular motions on my face. I use it very gently, otherwise my skin will get very irritated. After that I rinse my face with lukewarm water and dry my face with a towel.

Step 5: Now it is time for my toner/tonic. I haven't used one in a while, but it really makes a difference. I take 2 pumps of the Pixi Glow Tonic on a cotton pad and take that all over my face.

Step 6: At night I use the Hydraluron Serum. I take a pea size amount and massage this in to my skin.

Step 7: For moisturiser I use the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion. I take a pea size amount and again massage this in to my skin.

Optional:

Eye cream: I know that this is maybe a bad thing, but I do not use eye cream every night. I used the Kiehl's eye cream with avocado. Which I really liked, but I never really saw a difference, so I didn't repurchase it. I have a lot of eye cream samples though so that is what I use. Right know I use the Snowberry Smoothing Eye Serum and I have to say I really like it.

Acne: For this I still use Lush Grease Lightning. I have not really found THE acne fighting product for my skin, so if you have any recommendations I would love to hear them.

So this is my morning and evening skincare routine. I hope it has helped some of you and I would love to know what your skincare routine is!

Review | Pixi Glow Tonic

So after I saw this on Lily Pebbles' channel I really wanted to try it. Caroline Hirons talked about this on her blog and everyone went crazy for this product. So did I. I was afraid that it would be sold out in the store, but luckily they had a lot of bottles left.

The Glow Tonic is oil-free an alcohol-free. I has a lot of aloe vera and witchhazel in it. This tones and firms the skin and makes it look amazing. It also exfoliates your skin. I bought it for 16 pounds (250 ml) at the Pixi store in Carnaby Street, London.

I was afraid that it would irritate my skin, but it didn't. I use two to three pumps on a cotton pad at night, before I apply my Hydraluron and my moisturiser. I really like this as a toner. It removes the cleanser and make-up that is still left on my face. It exfoliates my skin. It just feels amazing!
I hoped that it would give me healthy glowy skin. I definitely see more of a glow on my skin. My acne scars are also less visible which is always nice.

I will definitely stock up on these when I get back to London. Because you can only buy it at there store in Carnaby Street.

Favourites | September 2013

So it seems like this month went so fast. We went from summer to fall in this month. Personally I love the fashion in fall. The only con is the weather. It is so cold already, or maybe it is just me who thinks that haha.
This month I have a lot of favourites . I discovered a lot of products in London and also over the last two months.
So lets get to them:

Pixi Glow Tonic

So I picked this up in London after all the hype around this product. I have to admit this product is amazing. It really makes my skin smooth and glowy looking.

Hydraluron

Another hype product, and again this product is amazing! It really makes your skin feel more hydrated. You also need less moisturiser.

It's a 10 Miracle Leave-in Spray

I saw this in the videos of Miss Glamorazzi. I went to TK Maxx and they had it there, so I decided to pick it up. The scent is a little bit weird, but the product itself is amazing. It makes my hair really really soft and shiny.

Dove Maximum Protection Deodorant in Go Fresh Pomegranate & Lemon Verbena

It is maybe a little bit weird to put a deodorant in my favourites, but this is amazing! I have used the same deodorant for a couple of years now and I wanted something different. It was a spray deodorant, so you also inhale the product. Which is not really good for you. When this came on the market I decided to try it. It is really good. It works even better than my spray deodorant. Just don't put on to much. That is a little tip for everyone haha.

Real Techniques Expert Face Brush

Everyone talked about this brush, so I wanted to see if it is really that good. I also ''needed'' a new foundation brush haha. I've used it ever since. It blends very well. I makes your foundation look very good and it also washes well.

MAC 217 Brush

This was a little cheeky purchase at Heathrow airport. It was cheaper in London and it had an extra discount. That was an easy decision to make! The brush itself is perfect. It applies eyeshadow really well and blends it perfectly. The bristles are so soft. Definitely the best eyeshadow brush ever!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in 100 Ivory

When I first put this on I hated it. It looked very orange on me and that it not really the look I am going for. After that I started mixing it with my Bourjouis Healthy Mix Foundation. When that one ran out I just started using it on its own. It is a really nice foundation. It gives you a healthy looking glow. It gives medium coverage but you can build it up. The perfect foundation for healthy looking skin.

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle

Another cheeky airport purchase. I wanted this for a while, but with the discount I finally went for it. It is the most beautiful shimmer I have ever seen. I put it on my cheekbones and it gives me the most amazing glow. You think it is very visible but in the daylight it isn't very noticeable  This is the best highlighter EVER!

Max Factor False Lash Effect in Waterproof Black

After using Maybelline The Rocket mascara this was sort of a let down. It gave my eyelashes volume, but it just wasn't good enough. After using it everyday I slowly started to fall in love with this. I makes my eyelashes so long and gives them so much volume. Now I like this one better than The Rocket!

Stila in the Light Pallet

Another London purchase. My eye immediately went to Kitten. It is just the most beautiful nude shimmery eyeshadow. The other colours are also beautiful, but I like Kitten the most. The pallet has a lot of different colours (matt and shimmery), so you can make a lot of looks. Definitely a good purchase.

What are your favourites of September?
