Vichy Dermablend

As someone who isn't gifted with perfect skin a good foundation and concealer is essential for me. Although my skin has it's good and bad days it's nice to know that there is always a product that can make me look like I am one of the very few that has no idea what acne, scarring and redness means.

I have always wanted to try out Vichy Dermablend. When I first started getting into the YouTube beauty community it was one of those foundations that people with acne loved. It would cover it all and not look cakey at the same time. Fast forward to five years later and here I am trying out Vichy Dermablend for the first time in all those years.
I am trying out two Dermablend products today: the Covermatte Powder Foundation and the SOS Cover Stick. They are the newest additions to the Dermablend family and I tried them both in the lightest colour 'Opal'.

The Covermatte Foundation* (€23,95) is a high coverage compact powder that camouflages imperfections, absorbs oil and keeps the skin matte and flawless all day. I have never really tried a powder foundation. I always feel like powder foundations don't give that much coverage, but I was pleasantly surprised. It gives enough coverage to even out my skin and it feels so light as well, such a difference in comparison to the heavy way liquid foundations can make me feel. The powder comes in sleek, black packaging with a sponge and a mirror. Personally I'm not a fan of sponges -the Beauty Blender trend is not for me- so I stick to a powder brush and dust it over my face. The coverage is very buildable and looks really natural. I do need a bit more coverage whenever I have a pimple and that's where the SOS Cover Stick comes in.
The SOS Cover Stick* (€14,95) is a creamy concealer that gives full coverage to cover the things that you wish where not on your face. It applies very smooth and blends in nicely as well. When I have a pimple I put a bit on the back of my hand and dip my concealer brush in the product to make sure not to get bacteria all over the coverstick. I do prefer liquid concealers, but that’s maybe because I am used to them. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the colour selection. There are only five colours and even the colour Opal is too dark for me. It's also winter which means that my summer tan is officially gone, so maybe these Vichy products will be a better use once the sun is shining and I am back to my darker shade. Both products contain SPF as well, which makes them even better for the summer time.

Both products are perfect for when you have imperfections on your skin. I really want to try the Dermablend foundation, because I think I will like that a bit more. It just feels weird wearing powder as a foundation. I guess it's something I have to get used to. I do love the light feel of it. I hope that in a few years my skin turns back to normal and a bit of concealer and powder is all I need.

Have you ever tried Vichy Dermablend? What do you think?

*The items with a * were kindly sent to me. My opinion and flawless skin are completely my own.

Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot

As a girl with combination/oily skin I need a good face powder to keep away the shine. I have used a lot of powders in my life and as someone who is very curious when it comes to new beauty products I decided to give this one a go. I bought this on my last trip to London in December, a trip where I picked up A LOT of make-up and fashion goodies. You can see the haul HERE.
I have never tried any products from Soap & Glory before. It’s a popular brand in the #bblogger community, but since we don’t have it in the Netherlands I have never used any of their products. I actually picked up two more Soap & Glory products:  the Supercat Liner, which I LOVE, and the Archery Brow Pencil that I still need to try, but I had high hopes for the Soap & Glory One Heck of a Blot Powder.

Let’s say it didn’t disappoint at all. It keeps my face matte all day and looks amazing on the skin. Some powders can make my foundation look a bit cakey, but this one doesn’t do that. I also like the fact that it’s transparent, because I am very pale and most face powders make me look more tan than I really am. This results in a slight colour difference between my face and the rest of my body and to be honest that is never a good look.
I just take a big powder brush and press the product on to my skin. I don’t like the sweeping motion, since this can move the concealer I just applied on my spots and acne scars and we don’t want that, do we? It’s also fragrance-free which I like A LOT.

I am very happy with this product! It does the job at keeping my shine at bay and it makes my face make-up look natural and matte. I will definitely pick up more Soap & Glory products when I am back in the UK!

Have you tried any Soap & Glory products before? What are your favourites?

Beauty Talk | Five Beauty Products I Can't Live Without

Recently I have been thinking. What if I can only keep five beauty products? What would I choose? I came to the conclusion that these five lifesavers really are my favourite products. I use them every day and as the title says: I can't live without them.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream
This is the most used product out of everything I own. I have to admit I am quite the lip balm junkie. Some people carry ten lipsticks around, for me its lip balm (I also carry a lot of lipsticks around in my bag, don't judge me!). My two favourites out all of them are the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream and a Dutch wonder called 'Purol'. These two make my lips so soft and moisturized. I have plenty of Eight Hour Creams around, so at the moment this is my absolute favourite!

MAC Pro Long Wear Concealer
Concealer is my BEST friend when it comes to make-up. I like to wear foundation, but it doesn't cover up everything. This concealer on the other hand has no problem with giving good coverage and a natural finish that last all day. I have the colour NC15 which matches me perfectly! Absolutely love it!

Catrice Matt Powder
A lifesaving product for girls with combination/oily skin, like me. During the day my t-zone gets oily and let’s just say that it doesn't look good. With the help of this powder I can keep my shine to a minimum. A few touch ups during the day and I am good to go!

Pixi Glow Tonic
After rediscovering this last month I cannot live without it anymore. I absolutely love the way this makes my skin feel and look! I don't get a lot of break outs anymore and it gives you a wonderful glow. Yep, the name of this beauty does what it says. I also saw that they sell it online. Hopefully they do ship to The Netherlands. Although a city trip to London does sound good right?
Catrice Eyebrow powder + Eyebrow Gel
I know that there are two of them, but I couldn’t choose. I love the way the brow powder makes my brows look fuller and thicker. The brow gel just keeps them in place and lifts them up. A perfect combo if you ask me.

Haul | Make-up: Max Factor & Catrice

So remember last year’s haul where that awesome deal, of 50% discount on all make-up, came in my life? Well it is back again! Today was the day and even though I didn't need a lot, I still went there to score some amazing beauty goodies.
Let's go on and find out what I bought. Shall we?

Max Factor False Lash Effect Mascara in Black Waterproof
This is the BEST mascara EVER! I have used it for quite a while now and I just can't find one that is better. Maybelline The Rocket Mascara in Black Waterproof comes close, but I just like this one more. It makes my lashes so long, full, curly and black. Panda eyes are also not a great look on me, so I am happy that this mascara keeps that to a minimum.

Catrice All Matt Plus Powder in 010 Transparent
If you have seen my other haul you will remember this little one. I believe I was a bit skeptical about it, but I have to say it is an amazing powder. It keeps my skin matt and doesn't make me look cakey. I do need some touch ups during the day, but I blame my combination/oily skin for that.

Catrice Prime and Fine Eyeshadow Base
Eye primers are a huge life saver for me. Without them I wouldn't bother putting on eyeshadow, because it will melt of my eyes within an hour. I needed a new one so I decided to try out this one from Catrice. As you can see I like Catrice products hehe.  It is a creamy consistency and reminds me a bit of the Maybelline Color Tattoo's only this has no shimmer in it at all. I am looking forward to trying this one out with all the new eye shadows I got for my birthday!

Catrice Lash Brow Designer
The brow fever got me as well. I have to admit I just love brows. I envy people with a good pair and I wish I could just steal them. Of course that is not possible so I try to fake it a bit. I do have to admit my eyebrows aren't that petit, but I just want them to be bigger and fuller. I had been eyeing a clear brow gel for a while, so why not try it when it is 50% off? I already know this will be one of my favourite eyebrow products. In combination with my eyebrow powder from Catrice this will become my killer eyebrow duo!

So that was everything I bought this time. Have you tried any of these products?
