Ciaté London x Olivia Palermo Nail Polish in Napa Valley

If there is one thing that perks up my mood on a crappy day it's groomed hands, and specifically nails. I have to admit I don't care for my hands and feet as much as I do for my face and I feel like that has to change. Starting with the first thing that gives my hands that loved look: nail polish.
Now nail polish can look extremely good. I think it transform your look and finishes of an outfit -especially when you try to match-. Of course my nail polish chips in no-time and then I'm too lazy to take it off even though it takes two minutes -the struggle is real!-. It's one of the reasons why I never wear nail polish, but with this colour from Ciaté London I have tried my best to become a bit more of a nail polish gal.

I have previously never owned a Ciaté nail polish. I knew about the brand by their enormous advent calendars and gorgeous packaging so when I spotted a Ciaté London x Olivia Palermo nail polish in TK Maxx for six pounds I was all excited. This happened when I was in Brighton last January, so I do apologize for the lateness of this post. Good way to end the year with a product that you bought at the start haha.

I grew up watching The Hills and The City so fashionista Olivia Palermo is the perfect lady for a nail polish collab. I think the colour of this nail polish ''Napa Valley'' represent here in a way too. It’s a dark berry red kind of colour that looks so elegant, classy and feminine. Safe to say this is the only nail polish that I have been reaching for if I ever decide to do my nails.

Applying is so easy with the brush. I don't know what it is but it gets enough product on the brush to get a lovely coated nail. One coat can do the trick when you are in a hurry, but out of habit I always do two. It applies like a dream and dries up quickly as well. All I'm left with are glossy red nails that last up to at least four/five days, depending on what my activities are that week.

Ciaté London is definitely a brand that I want discover a lot more in the New Year. I feel that it can be quite hard sometimes to find good nail polish that lasts a long time and is not streaky. I’m very happy that I can finally cross 'Finding the perfect nail polish brand' of my list!

Burberry Beauty Haul

Last Saturday I went to a beauty sale and as someone who is obsessed with anything beauty related I was extremely excited. I bought quite a lot of products with a huge discount (haul video coming soon!) and even before my video goes up I want to show you the two most exciting purchases of them all: a Burberry lipstick and Burberry nail polish!

Burberry Beauty always looks so pretty when I see it making an appearance in YouTube videos and on blogs. The only problem is that it's a bit expensive so when I was looking through all the makeup and saw these two beauties I knew that they had to be mine. I picked up the Burberry Lip Mist in Trench Kiss and a Burberry nail polish in Stone. Both colours are very nude and wearable which I like a lot because I am planning to wear these babies non-stop. They were also 10 euros each which is such a bargain!

I can't tell you much about them because I haven't even tried them out yet. Reviews of these lovely products will go up very shortly and I can't wait to tell you what I think of them! Stay tuned!

Pure Soul

One peek in my make-up drawer and you now that I am obsessed with nail polish. I have many colours, but I found out that there was one missing: a nude nail polish. I know, I know it's like the most standard colour, a musthave for every nail polish addict and I didn't have it..
The main reason for this is that I DID have some, but I used them so much that I throw them away and never replaced them.
Now lately I have been obsessed with white nail polish, but since I had a lot of job interviews I decided that a nude colour would be better. Luckily I found a cheap option in the drugstore and I have to say: I LOVE IT!

This beauty is from Essence, it's in the colour '05 Pure Soul' and it was €1,89. Such a bargain for this lovely nail polish. I really like the colour and it stays on for 5 days, which I think is pretty good for a drugstore nail polish.
There are only two things that I don't like about it. It takes 3-4 coats to get an opaque nude colour. I just want to paint my nails with 1-2 coats and be done with it. Because there are four layers on my nails it takes ages to dry. I can't do anything, because one single movement will ruin everything. It's a real struggle sometimes haha.

I have never really found a nude nail polish that covers the nail in 1-2 coats, do you have any suggestions? All in all, I am very happy with this colour. I think it's perfect for any occasion and it looks very sophisticated.

OPI Alpine Snow

The hype for white nail polish; I wasn’t the biggest fan, but I have to admit it has really grown on me. It even made me purchase this beautiful nail polish: OPI Alpine Snow.
Now I normally go for cheap nail polishes. Some are actually really good that I don't see the reason why to splurge on an expensive one, although I do love Essie a lot.
I have only used OPI once in my life. It was about six years ago and I actually stole that nude nail polish from my sister. I used it all the time and I sort of 'forgot' to give it back. not really though

Since I really like white nails there is not much that makes me dislike this nail polish. It covers the nail within two coats and transforms the nails into a 'white as snow' look. It stays on for about 3-4 days and removing it is so quick and easy. My last nail polish was such a pain to remove, so I am very pleased with this.
I have to say that I have been wearing this nail polish pretty much 24/7. I love a minimalistic look, so white nails totally go with that!

Cinderella Approved Nails

I’ve always loved Disney films. From when I was a little girl to me being 21 years old and still shedding a few tears when a character dies. Nail polish is also one of my faves. I just love buying all those pretty colours, so you can imagine how I felt when I saw these babies in the shop!

Because of the new Cinderella movie (that I haven’t seen yet), Essence has teamed up with Disney and came out with a special limited edition collection. The collection has some amazing products, but what caught my eye was a sparkly nail polish. It just looked so pretty that I couldn’t resist not buying it. There was a ‘buy one, get one free’ deal, so I decided to also pick up a pastel lilac, which looked more like a grey colour in the store, but it’s still very pretty.
‘02 Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo’ is, as I said before, a pastel lilac with a matte finish. Two coats of this bad boy will transform your nails into the perfect spring manicure.
To top it all off, I decided to coat my ring fingers with ‘01 The Glass Slipper’: the glitter topper with silver and purple sparkles. I applied 2-3 coats, just because I wanted some more sparkles on my nails, and it looked amazing. The two nail polishes go very well together, so all in all I am very happy with my Cinderella approved nails.
The nail polish also lasted for quite some time. Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo started to chip after three-four days, which for me is quite decent and The Glass Slipper would’ve stayed on for forever, but after six days I removed everything and reapplied the same combo. The only downside for me is that The Glass Slipper won’t come off my nails. Half a bottle of nail polish remover later, it finally started to come off, but it’s so pretty and sparkly that I can get past that.

If you also want to get some princess approved nails then head on over to your nearest Essence counter and have a look. They are both €1,99, so that’s quite good for these amazing nail polishes!

Metallic is the Word

Nails are an accessory. You can go crazy or keep them very natural. They are my own canvas and give an extra touch to any outfit. My nail polish collection is quite small; there is a mix of neutrals, bolds and glitters, but there was a metallic missing in that bunch of polishes.
I was lucky enough to attend a GOSH Cosmetics event in June for my internship and got my hands on the new nail lacquers for Fall/Winter 2014.

This beauty (630 Moonlight; €7,29) is part of that collection and I have to say it is my new nail crush! I just love the way it looks on my nails. Metallic is not something I thought of as a nail polish colour, but it looks amazing! I am wearing three coats of nail polish on my nails; it is a sheer formula, so for full coverage you need at least three coats.
Something that really surprised me was how long the formula stayed on my nails. After six days I noticed a chip, which for a nail polish is very good. Normally I see a chip after two-three days and that always annoys me.
Another thing: it is a struggle to remove it. After rubbing a cotton pad, drenched in nail polish remover, on my nails it finally came off. But that is just a minor detail that we will forget very quickly, because overall it is an amazing nail polish when it comes to the colour and the long-lasting formula. I also have another colour from the GOSH A/W 2014 collection that will pop up on the blog very soon!

I do love the metallic nail trend that is going on! What do you think?

Beauty | Catrice Luxury Lacquer in Maliblue

Nail polish is one of my best beauty pals. It can make any outfit look better with its fun and bright colours. There was just one type that missed in the bunch that I own: a textured one. That was when I walked passed the Catrice counter; my eye fell on this beauty. I also bought a brown one, but I still haven't worn it.
Maliblue, which is the name of this tropical cocktail, has been pulled out of my nail polish drawer for the millionth time, so I would like to share this gorgeous shade with you.

Catrice Luxury Lacquer in C02 Maliblue. €3,59

It is a bright blue shade with a liquid sand effect. I combine this colour with the It's All I Can Blue nail polish, also by Catrice. I love these two together. I wear Maliblue as a special touch on the nail of my ring finger. It looks amazing! They both cover really well. I put two coats of the It's All I Can Blue and one coat of Maliblue on my nails and I am good to go! My nails last five days without chipping, which is rare for me. So thumps up for this nail polish!

This has definitely opened my eyes for more textured nail polishes. I will definitely try the brown one, that is still waiting in my drawer. But not for long!

What are your thoughts on liquid sand effect nail polishes?

Review | Essie After School Boy Blazer

I have been eyeing this one for a while now. I love Essie nail polishes. The colour range is lovely, the names are just too cute and the staying power is amazing. Although I do think that €9,99 is bit expensive for a nail polish. That is why I sometimes buy on as a cheeky present for myself. This one however was 30% off (BARGAIN ALERT), so I decided it was now or never.

What Essie says:
‘It’s back to cool when you're back in blue-black. This academy blue lacquer is the prep-school chic must of the season’.

As you expect from Essie nail polishes the colour payoff is amazing. After one coat my nails have a gorgeous dark blue colour. You can go for a second coat, but this is not necessary. Because of the wide brush, that all the Essie nail polishes have, the application is very easy. Even for me, I always struggle with getting a nice application and this brush just makes that very easy.
I have been wearing this colour nonstop since I got it. This has been two weeks ago and I only needed to redo my nail polish once. Normally my nail polish always chips after three to four days. But not with this one! I have just put a base coat underneath and layered it with two coats of the nail polish.
I also love the fact that it is really dark. You need to look close to see that it is a dark blue. I have had dark blue’s before, but they do not compare to this one.
.
I love the way a manicure can give a total different look to your outfit. I always feel more fashionable when I wear nail polish, I know this is weird but I just do.
This nail polish will be perfect for fall and winter time. Even though winter has just begun I feel like I am going to wear this one a lot.

My Beauty Favorites November 2012

It is already the end of another month. Which means I have discovered some new beauty favorites this month. Here are some beauty related products I fell in love with in November.

Make-up:

Clinique - Chubby Stick in 13 Mighty Mimosa
It was supposed to be a present for my sister, but she already had this color so I kept it myself. it is a light pink color that looks great on everybody.

Sephora- Lipstick Crush R23
You have already seen this lipstick in my Sephora Haul. I totally fell in love with this color. I think red/berry lipstick are great for autumn and winter!

Rituals - Perfection Volume Mascara

I always love trying new mascara's. Sometimes a mascara works for you and sometimes it doesn't. This one is great! It does not smudge at all. Which is a huge plus for me!

ELF - Complexion Perfection Tone Correcting Powder
I saw this one online and was interested by the colors of the powder and how it would work on my skin. I decided to buy it and I am really happy with my purchase! It gives my face an nice matte finish. After a couple of hours my nose gets oily though. But all the powders I've tried do this and give me a greasy feeling. This one does not do that. So that is why I love this powder at the moment!

ELF - Nail polish in Plum
I always wanted a color like this, so when I saw it online I had to have it. Now that I have it I love it! The color is just great for fall and autumn.

Hair:

Vital oil
This was in the Glossybox of September and I always wanted to try an oil for my hair. I absolutely love this one. It make my hair really soft and silky. I have less frizz in my hair and I have more shine. I am definitely going to try more hair oils.

Skincare/Bodycare:

Ginvera - Green Tea Exfoliating Marvel Gel

I got this sample and I just tried it out. After I used it on my face my skin felt so soft and I had no allergic reaction. This is definitely my new exfoliating product!.

Nivea - Shower Bodymilk

For me this is the perfect solution. I am always in a hurry and putting on bodylotion just takes to much time. To have that moisturized feeling Nivea invented a bodymilk for in the shower. My skin did feel really moisturized after using it. After using it more and more my skin felt really soft. Just like when you use a bodymilk. So this is a great solution for me.

So this were my favorites this month. What were your favourites??

My favorites from September 2012

I can't believe that it is already the end of September. Everything just went so fast! Before you know it is New Year's and the beginning of a new year!

But a whole month means trying out a lot of products, these are the products that I fell in love with!

Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo

Read my review on this product here.

Mac Mineralize Skin Hydrating Mist

My MAC Fix + Spray was almost finished so I wanted a new one. I went to the MAC store and it turned out that it was sold out so a MAC employee recommended this to me. I have to say that the scent from the Fix + Spray is better, but I think I get a dewier look from this.

Chanel le Vernis Nail Colour 551 Coco Blue

I wanted this nail polish for a while now, but I thought it was a little bit to expensive so I went looking for cheaper brands with the same color. I have looked everywhere and I couldn't find it so I just bought it and I LOVE it! The color is so pretty and now that I have it I do not regret buying it!

Catrice Highlighting Powder

Highlighters are a musthave right now in the beauty world so I also bought one. I also heard really good things about the Dior Highlighters but first this one from Catrice. I really like this one it gives your skin a really nice glow so when you are looking for a cheaper highlighter this one is really good!

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic

http://www.lushusa.com/Catastrophe-Cosmetic/06093,en_US,pd.html?start=7&cgid=fresh-face-masks

I was at the Lush store (which is always tempting) and I really wanted to try this one. The smell is really nice and it is made with fresh blueberries. After using this my skin felt so soft and looked really nice. I am deffinetly repurchasing this!

Hema Bronzing Powder

Hema is a store in The Netherlands (I think they also have one in Germany, Belgium and France) that sells all sorts of things and also make-up! I saw this one and immediately loved it. I never really used a bronzer before, (I have a really fair skin tone, so i thought it would not look nice on me) but it looks really nice and warms up my complexion so bronzer is definitely a must have for me right now!

Kiehl's Lip Balm #1

http://www.kiehls.com/Lip-Balm-1/307,default,pd.html?start=6&cgid=face-eye

I am a huge Kiehl's fan so I was really excited when I got this in my Glossybox! It is really nice and moisturizes my lips very well.

Non Beauty Products

H&M Sweater €9,95

Great for fall and winter coming up, love the mustard color.

Primark Studded Loafers €13

I really like loafers (this is my 3rd pair) and I saw these and I loved them instantly. They are very comfy and look amazing!

Zara Necklace €22,95

I saw these at Zara and knew that I had to had this. I really like statement necklaces and at that time we did not really had them, so when I saw these I was like yeeeh finally a statement necklace! They are very colorful and love to wear it with my mustard sweater!
