My Non-Beauty Favorites November 2012

The end of the month means time for my favorites! I also have a lot of non-beauty favorites that I want to share with you!

If you haven't read my beauty favourites click here.

Favorite Music:

Taylor Swift - Red
I just love this album! I am a huge Taylor Swift fan so I was really excited for her new album to come out. My favorite song has to be: I knew you were trouble.

One Direction - Back to home.
The whole world loves them and so do I. I really like there new album. The uptempo songs really make me happy. My favorite song is Heart Attack.

Favorite Movie:

Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 2
I was so excited for this film to come out. I've read the books so I knew how it was going to end. I like how they changed the end a bit. I was watching the film in the cinema with a friend and I was thinking like what a stupid movie. Why did they change it? Then something happened and everybody was like ooooooooh... (I won't give any spoilers away, but you know what I am talking about!) From that point on I thought it was a really good film!

Favorite Food:

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
I really wanted to try these. I've heard so many great things about them so I had high expectations. I went to a special store were they sell American and British foods. I bought a bag with miniatures and a pack with 3 cups. Me and my friend tried the cups first. I thought they were oke not that special. I think my expectations at that point were to high. A couple days later I tried the miniatures and I totally understand right now why people are addicted to these things! I really like them right now!

Favorite Drink:

Green tea with honey in my Blond Amsterdam cup

It is getting cold outside which means it is time for hot chocolate and tea. I drink a lot of tea so I bought this cute cup from Blond Amsterdam which makes drinking hot beverages even more fun! I love all kinds of tea but green tea is my favorite, because of all the anti-oxidants. Honey is a nice natural sweetener and has health benefits as well!

Favorite Clothing item:

A floral top with zipper at the back from Primark (in sale)
I loved this top when I saw it in sale. All the colors and flowers really make me happy. Especially since it is starting to get really cold outside.

Favorite Accessory:

A gold necklace from Primark
I bought this necklace a while ago. For me it was just nice to have one. So that when you  are going to wear something you have a lot of jewelry to choose from.
I think the necklace looks great with the top!

My Beauty Favorites November 2012

It is already the end of another month. Which means I have discovered some new beauty favorites this month. Here are some beauty related products I fell in love with in November.

Make-up:

Clinique - Chubby Stick in 13 Mighty Mimosa
It was supposed to be a present for my sister, but she already had this color so I kept it myself. it is a light pink color that looks great on everybody.

Sephora- Lipstick Crush R23
You have already seen this lipstick in my Sephora Haul. I totally fell in love with this color. I think red/berry lipstick are great for autumn and winter!

Rituals - Perfection Volume Mascara

I always love trying new mascara's. Sometimes a mascara works for you and sometimes it doesn't. This one is great! It does not smudge at all. Which is a huge plus for me!

ELF - Complexion Perfection Tone Correcting Powder
I saw this one online and was interested by the colors of the powder and how it would work on my skin. I decided to buy it and I am really happy with my purchase! It gives my face an nice matte finish. After a couple of hours my nose gets oily though. But all the powders I've tried do this and give me a greasy feeling. This one does not do that. So that is why I love this powder at the moment!

ELF - Nail polish in Plum
I always wanted a color like this, so when I saw it online I had to have it. Now that I have it I love it! The color is just great for fall and autumn.

Hair:

Vital oil
This was in the Glossybox of September and I always wanted to try an oil for my hair. I absolutely love this one. It make my hair really soft and silky. I have less frizz in my hair and I have more shine. I am definitely going to try more hair oils.

Skincare/Bodycare:

Ginvera - Green Tea Exfoliating Marvel Gel

I got this sample and I just tried it out. After I used it on my face my skin felt so soft and I had no allergic reaction. This is definitely my new exfoliating product!.

Nivea - Shower Bodymilk

For me this is the perfect solution. I am always in a hurry and putting on bodylotion just takes to much time. To have that moisturized feeling Nivea invented a bodymilk for in the shower. My skin did feel really moisturized after using it. After using it more and more my skin felt really soft. Just like when you use a bodymilk. So this is a great solution for me.

So this were my favorites this month. What were your favourites??

My Skin Care Routine

I always had problems with my skin. It is really sensitive so I can't just try out a product because I might get an allergic reaction. I also have acne-prone skin, so food or skin care products can give me break outs.

I have searched a long time for a good skincare routine and I finally think I found it! I still get break outs sometimes but it isn't as bad as it used to be.

Step 1: Eye Cleanser

I always clean my eyes first. I just put some eye cleansing oil on two cotton pads and I rub my eye makeup off my eyes. I just use a drugstore eye cleansing oil for this.

Step 2: Face Cleanser

Than I take my Purity Made Simple from Philosophy. I take a bit on my hand and mix it with some water than I massage it on my face for about one minute. Just to make sure that there is no make-up on my face left. Then I wash it off with warm water.
Purity Made Simple 240 ml €20,29

Step 3: Face Toner

To make sure that all the make-up and cleanser are off my face I use a toner as my last cleansing step. I really like Lush Eau Roma Water. I spray this on a cotton pad and wipe it all over my face.
Lush Eau Roma Water 250 g €11,65

Step 4: Serum

After all the cleansing steps I use a serum on my skin. I use Philosophy's Keep the Peace Serum to calm down the redness in my skin. (I also like Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate). I just take some drops and massage it in to my skin.
Philosophy's Keep the Peace Serum 27 ml € 45,71
Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate 30 ml €39,00

Step 5: Eye Cream

This is the first eye cream I have ever used and I really like it. I take a small amount of Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado and tap that in to my under eye area.
Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado €25,00

Step 6: Face Cream/Lotion

If you have read my Hope in a Jar review, you know about my search for the perfect moisturizer. I think that this is the best moisturizer I have ever used. I take a bit of Kiehl's Ultra Facial oil-free Lotion and massage this in to my skin until my face does not feel sticky any more.
Kiehl's Ultra Facial oil-free Lotion €24,00

Step 7: Treatment for break outs (optional)

When I have a really bad break out I use a special acne treatment so that it will go away sooner. I do not use one particular product. So I will just name all the products that I have used and that worked for me.

Benefit - Boo Boo Zap €20,00
Lush - Grease Lightning €10,15
Biodermal - Acne Cream €12,35

Just take some of the product and put it on the problem area.

After this my skin care routine is completed! I know these are a lot of steps and products, but if my skin looks good it is totally worth it!
I hope this maybe helps you finding your one skincare routine. Just try out a lot of products and see what works for you!

What kind of products do you use in your skincare routine?

Glossybox November 2012

Last week I got my new Glossybox. They have there one year anniversary this month so that means that this was a special box with special and exclusive products.

This is the Anniversary Glossybox of November 2012:

The products that are in there:

Sabon - Patchouli Lavender Vanilla Hand Cream

Full size € 11,95

Hannah - 24 H Skin Balancing Cream

10 ml €9,00
45 ml €37,50

Zoeva - Pure Glam Pigment in Terra di Siena

Full Size €3,80

Anatomicals - Farewell the Scarlet Pimplehell Deep Cleansing Mud Mask

Full Size €1,95

Fashion Make-up - Eyeliner in Black

Full Size €5,00

Paul Mitchell - Awapuhi Wild Ginger Styling Treatment Oil

100 ml €32,95

I am really happy with the products in this box. I always wanted to try out the Hannah skincare. I almost bought it at one point, but I have no idea why I didn't buy in the end.

I already have a hand cream from Sabon (Violet) and it smells amazing and moisturizes very well.
The eyeliner comes at the right time because mine is almost finished.
I also really like the hair oil from Paul Mitchell. I am always looking for new hair treatments and oils and this one smells really nice.
The color of the Zoeva Pure Glam Pigment is not something I would wear. At least not every day but with Christmas coming up I might use it.
I am curious about the Anatomicals Mud Mask. Just because I do not want an allergic or irritated reaction on my skin. So I will put it on a small part of my face and see how that works out.

I am also looking forward to the December box, the Holiday edition!! Which means a lot of exclusive and high end products/samples (at least I hope).

Have you tried one of these product?

I heart Fall Tag!

So it is Fall and I do really like Fall. The color of the leaves, that special Fall smell in the air, hot chocolate (jummie!). So I did the Fall tag:

1. Favorite Fall lip product?
Sephora Lipstick R23 Crush, I just love this dark berry color, I think it is perfect for Fall!

2.Favorite Fall Nail Polish?
Catrice 070 Caught On The Red Carpet, this dark red color is just gorgeous!

3. Favorite Starbucks Fall Drink?
Here in The Netherlands we do not really have a lot of Starbucks stores, so I do not drink it a lot, but when I drink it I always choose the Caramel Hot Chocolate! It is so good! I do really want to try all the Fall flavors like the Pumpkin Spice Latte, although I do not know if we they sell that flavor here.

4. Favorite Fall Candle?
I love the Sacred Fire Candle from Rituals, It has this typical Fall scent. I just love it!

5. Favorite Fall Scarf or accessory
My Zara Statement necklace, I love the colors of the necklace and I think statement jewelry is perfect for Fall.
The necklace is in my favourites of September.

6. Haunted house, haunted hay ride, or haunted corn maze?
To be honest I do not like scary things, when I was a kid we went to some kind of medieval dungeon and that was so scary! Since then I am really scared of those kind of things. I also have never really been in those three things, but if I had to choose I would choose a haunted house and go to the exit really fast!

7. Favorite Halloween movie?
We do not really celebrate Halloween in The Netherlands, so I do not really know a lot of Halloween movies. Scary movies are also not really my thing just because i do not like scary things. But there is one movie which is scary and weird that I do like and that is Black Swan (I do not know if it is a Halloween movie, but it comes close).

8. Favorite candy to eat on Halloween?
Anything with chocolate. <3

9. What are you dressing up as for Halloween?!
Because we do not really celebrate Halloween I never really dressed up for Halloween, but I would definitely dress up as the Black Swan! (Of course!)

10. What is your Favorite thing about Fall?
My Favorite thing is that special Fall scent in the air. I just love that, when I smell that scent I know that Fall had begun!

So these were my favorite things about Fall! I tag you all to do the same!
What do you like about Fall?

My Sephora Haul

Last week I went to Sephora with a friend. The reason: a 3 for €10 sale on all Sephora make-up.
I had been there before and it was crazy. Everybody was digging for the right colour of make-up and my friend was like: ‘Oke.. I will hold your bag and good luck.’ In the end I bought a foundation, compact powder, mascara, blush, nail polish and a primer. All this for just €20!

This time the sale was 3 for €10 on everything, only the foundations and mascara's were 2 for €10.
I already made a list in my head of all the products I wanted: a blush, lipstick, primer and highlighting powder.
When we stepped foot in Sephora, it wasn't as crazy as two years ago. Of course I went on a Thursday and not on a Saturday, but they also changed it. There were not a lot of products to choose from, which was really disappointing. I still managed to find some nice products and looked at other brands.

I immediately went to the Benefit counter; I just love their products and packaging. A lady from Benefit tried the They're Real mascara on me. I already wore another layer of mascara, so the result was not that amazing, but you could definitely see more volume!
I was thinking about what I should buy: the They're Real mascara, the Dandelion mini box (the blush, lipgloss, High Beam and Cha Cha Tint) or go to the Benefit Brow Bar, since I always wanted to go there. In the end I decided that my eyebrows needed a serious wax, so Benefit Brow Bar it is!
I never really knew what to do with my brows. They always looked sort of uneven; at least that is what I see. So time to let a professional take care of them!

You will hear all about my Benefit Brow Bar experience in another blog post, but first the products that I bought:

Sephora Blush in N° 06 Corail Rosé/ Coral Flush
A nice coral blush with gold glitter
Sephora Smoothing & Brightening Concealer in N°01 Clair/Light
This concealer is even lighter than my foundation. It is almost white, so I am really happy with it. For me that is hard to find!

From left to right:

Sephora Rouge Lipstick in R20 Honey
A pretty peachy nude color.
Sephora Cream Lipstick in R19 Charmer
A pink peach color.
Sephora Cream Lipstick in R12 Sexy Game
A lovely old pink color.
Sephora Cream Lipstick in R23 Crush
A gorgeous Berry color.

I am really happy with the products I got and I will definitely go again in February/March!

Are you familiar with Sephora make-up?

Philosophy Hope in a Jar Review

I heard so much about Hope in a Jar, I have read a lot of reviews and everybody was really positive about this cream, so I thought that this would be the solution for my skin.

I have a really difficult skin. It is really sensitive (when I try new products there is always a risk I get an allergic reaction and believe me that does not look good). I also have a combination skin so a really oily T-Zone which is really annoying and I am acne - prone which means some products, foods or when I am stressed or something like that give me break-outs. And those break outs leave scarring behind which sucks..
So I have red, sensitive skin with scars that gets break outs very often.

When I find a new product I always believe that this is the ONE that gives me beautiful skin. (Most of the time it is not)
So of course I thought that Hope in a Jar was the one.

The Cream

The cream has some kind of watery feeling when you put it on your skin, so a little goes a long way. The smell however is not that attractive. The cream has a really chemical smell. The first time I put it on my face I could smell it all day. After a week I did not notice the smell anymore. You get used to it and maybe start loving it, but in the beginning it is not that nice.

My experience

The first time I put the cream on my face I went to a musical, but because me and my dad were there to early we walked on the boulevard which was next to the beach. There was also a lot of wind that day, so that is maybe the reason why my face did not look good at the end of the day. A lot of my foundation was gone and there was a lot of oil on my face you could just see that my skin wasn't liking my new cream.
I did not had an allergic reaction to it so I continued using it because I paid like €40 for it so I did not wanted to stop after just one day. My skin started to look better with my new cream and was getting used to it only after a while I noticed that I needed to put more cream on my face to get a moisturized feeling. Otherwise my skin would look really dry and oily.
So I was half way threw the jar and I came to the conclusion that it just didn't work for me.
I do think that it is a good cream because in the beginning I definitely saw a change in my skin which was good, so I would recommend it to people even in the end it did not work for me.

Now I use Kiehl's oil free lotion which is good but I am always curious for new moisturizers, do you have any recommendations?

Steamcream Review

I do not even know how I found out about this brand. I probably just saw it on a site and was curious because of the name. This directed me to the site of Steamcream and I just bought a jar. It took about a week to arrive but when it finally did I was really excited!

Steamcream is created by Andrew Gerrie, a CEO from Lush.
He wanted good and natural skincare for a good price and created Steamcream.
It is made with high quality, natural ingredients and a shot of hot steam (that's why it's called Steamcream). It is handmade in the UK and Japan and you can use it on your face, body and hands.

It is made with orange flower water, oatmeal and vegetable glycerine to hydrate your skin. And also almond and jojoba oils and moisturising cocoa butter, which softens the skin’s surface.

The cream comes in a jar and the nicest part of that is you can pick your own design of the jar! I chose the design Koku which I think is really cute and floral.

My experience

I really liked the packaging it came in, the fact that you can pick your own jar is awesome! So that is definitely a plus!
When I opened it and smelled the cream, it smelled like a product Lush would sell, it has that typical Lush scent (which isn't a bad thing). The smell also reminded me of Lushes' Dream Cream.
When I put it on my hand I noticed that it was really moisturizing, but that it probably would not work for my face because it is to heavy and I could get break-outs from it.

I tried it on my body and hands which worked great for me! It moisturizes really well, the smell is nice (you might need to get used to it, but if you like Lush products you would really like this).
I tried it once on my face but after one use I could already see that this isn't a great use for my face. I got break-outs and my skin was a little bit irritated.
It did really moisturise my face, but it just isn't for combination/oily skin types. So when you have really dry skin I think this would be perfect as a facial cream and otherwise you could use it as a body cream.

The price of a jar of Steamcream is £12.95 for 75 g.
I have put a link down below if you want to try it out yourself!

Miranda Kerr for Harper's Bazaar!

Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation Review

When this foundation came out I wasn't really curious. Most of the time drugstore brand do not have the right color for me. They are always to dark.
So when I went to a drugstore with a friend to find the right foundation for her I saw this one. I was really surprised because most of the time they do not really have light colors. So I just bought it to try it out.

This foundation is a 3 in 1 solution. It is a primer, concealer and foundation in 1 which is nice because when you are really in a hurry you don't have to use 3 separate products.
It says that it gives you an all day flawless skin. I also really liked the fact that it is supposed to give good coverage because of the concealer.

This is the foundation:

My thoughts

To be honest I do not like this at all. The first thing is that the color is not right for me, but I am used to that, so maybe it will work for other people.
The second thing is that when I applied it it didn't looked good. I applied it with my foundation brush and you could just see stripes and what ever I did you could still see them. It also looked very cakey on me.
I asked my mom what she thought of my new foundation and in the beginning she liked it but later at the day she said that you could see a line at my neck from the foundation and my normal skin tone and that it just didn't looked natural. Then my stepfather came in and said that I shouldn't put so much make-up on my face. After that I immediately took my make-up off an applied my usual foundation.

I do think the idea of a 3 in 1 foundation is really good, only this just did not work for me.

Have you tried this out already?

Doutzen in baby Blue

My favorites from September 2012

I can't believe that it is already the end of September. Everything just went so fast! Before you know it is New Year's and the beginning of a new year!

But a whole month means trying out a lot of products, these are the products that I fell in love with!

Lush Fair Trade Honey Shampoo

Read my review on this product here.

Mac Mineralize Skin Hydrating Mist

My MAC Fix + Spray was almost finished so I wanted a new one. I went to the MAC store and it turned out that it was sold out so a MAC employee recommended this to me. I have to say that the scent from the Fix + Spray is better, but I think I get a dewier look from this.

Chanel le Vernis Nail Colour 551 Coco Blue

I wanted this nail polish for a while now, but I thought it was a little bit to expensive so I went looking for cheaper brands with the same color. I have looked everywhere and I couldn't find it so I just bought it and I LOVE it! The color is so pretty and now that I have it I do not regret buying it!

Catrice Highlighting Powder

Highlighters are a musthave right now in the beauty world so I also bought one. I also heard really good things about the Dior Highlighters but first this one from Catrice. I really like this one it gives your skin a really nice glow so when you are looking for a cheaper highlighter this one is really good!

Lush Catastrophe Cosmetic

http://www.lushusa.com/Catastrophe-Cosmetic/06093,en_US,pd.html?start=7&cgid=fresh-face-masks

I was at the Lush store (which is always tempting) and I really wanted to try this one. The smell is really nice and it is made with fresh blueberries. After using this my skin felt so soft and looked really nice. I am deffinetly repurchasing this!

Hema Bronzing Powder

Hema is a store in The Netherlands (I think they also have one in Germany, Belgium and France) that sells all sorts of things and also make-up! I saw this one and immediately loved it. I never really used a bronzer before, (I have a really fair skin tone, so i thought it would not look nice on me) but it looks really nice and warms up my complexion so bronzer is definitely a must have for me right now!

Kiehl's Lip Balm #1

http://www.kiehls.com/Lip-Balm-1/307,default,pd.html?start=6&cgid=face-eye

I am a huge Kiehl's fan so I was really excited when I got this in my Glossybox! It is really nice and moisturizes my lips very well.
