My New Fashion Crush

Since the last couple of years I have developed quite a shoe collection. I don't know what it is but I am just obsessed with shoes. This year, I already bought eight pairs of shoes; a bit ridiculous, I know. Most of these are S/S shoes, so with the seasons changing I really needed a new pair of boots.

When it comes to ''cold weather shoes'' I have a hard time finding a nice, affordable pair. They are either too expensive, I am in love with the Vagabond Grace boots, or they just look cheap and hardly make it till February, because they look awful after wearing them so much.
This year I really wanted to buy well-made boots. Primark shoes are amazing, don’t get me wrong, half of my shoe collection comes from Primark, but they don’t last very long.

These boots are from ASOS and they are an absolute dream. I saw them in Suzie's haul, Suzie from Hello October, and immediately fell in love with them. Lucky me, since they were on sale with a 25% discount!
These ASOS ROYAL Leather Chelsea Ankle Boots are really well made with real leather. They look way more expensive than the €53,32 I paid for them. They are really comfy as well, although the right shoe sometimes rubs on my ankle. I still don’t have a blister, so hopefully it will be fine. I just love how they fit with everything: jeans, skirts, dresses; they are a match made in heaven for my F/W wardrobe.

I still have my eyes on two other pairs of boots. One of them will be featured very soon on the blog, since I am going to, hopefully, buy them on Tuesday!

Metallic is the Word

Nails are an accessory. You can go crazy or keep them very natural. They are my own canvas and give an extra touch to any outfit. My nail polish collection is quite small; there is a mix of neutrals, bolds and glitters, but there was a metallic missing in that bunch of polishes.
I was lucky enough to attend a GOSH Cosmetics event in June for my internship and got my hands on the new nail lacquers for Fall/Winter 2014.

This beauty (630 Moonlight; €7,29) is part of that collection and I have to say it is my new nail crush! I just love the way it looks on my nails. Metallic is not something I thought of as a nail polish colour, but it looks amazing! I am wearing three coats of nail polish on my nails; it is a sheer formula, so for full coverage you need at least three coats.
Something that really surprised me was how long the formula stayed on my nails. After six days I noticed a chip, which for a nail polish is very good. Normally I see a chip after two-three days and that always annoys me.
Another thing: it is a struggle to remove it. After rubbing a cotton pad, drenched in nail polish remover, on my nails it finally came off. But that is just a minor detail that we will forget very quickly, because overall it is an amazing nail polish when it comes to the colour and the long-lasting formula. I also have another colour from the GOSH A/W 2014 collection that will pop up on the blog very soon!

I do love the metallic nail trend that is going on! What do you think?

Cookie Monster

Sometimes you just crave something sweet and crunchy. For me this always happens when I scroll through my Tumblr feed at 11 pm. All those yummy foods make me so hungry, but inspire me as well! This cookie recipe was inspired by the video of Gabriella, aka Velvetgh0st on YouTube. But me and my friend did put a Tumblr inspired twist on it, by putting Oreo cookies in the middle. And I can tell you that this makes the cookies even more delicious!

So what do you need?
200g butter
100g white caster sugar
100g icing sugar
1 1/2 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
200g plain flower
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 Toblerone Bar (we did eat some pieces so it was a whole bar minus 4 pieces :P)
Oreo cookies (We used about six Oreo's, since we also wanted to try plain cookies)

First of all, preheat your oven to 180 Celsius or 350 Fahrenheit.
The next step is to put the butter, caster sugar and icing sugar in a bowl and mix it together until you have a creamy, fluffy consistency.
Then you take the eggs, whisk them together and add them to the butter mixture and mix again. You can always add more egg if you want, but 1 1/2 should be enough! You also add the vanilla extract at this point.
Now it is time for the dry ingredients! Add the flower, salt and baking powder to the mixture. You could sift all the dry ingredients, but I never really do that to be honest..  Then you mix, mix, mix until you get dough that tastes exactly like Ben & Jerry's Cookie Dough ice cream, YUM!
Break the Toblerone bar into pieces and cut all those triangle shaped chocolateness into big chunks and add it with the dough and mix it together.
Now take a small ice cream scooper and scoop a ball of dough on some greaseproof paper. Press an Oreo in the dough and add a second dough ball on top. Make sure that you can’t see the Oreo, so take a spoon and smooth out the dough on top of the cookie. If you want to have plain cookies than just take one scoop of dough for one cookie. I think me and my friend made about 10 cookies with this recipe. We had six Oreo cookies and 4 normal ones, so with this recipe you can either make 8 Oreo cookies or 16 normal cookies.

Put them in the oven for 12 minutes or until they are golden brown. Take them out of the oven, let them cool off and they are ready to eat! Super yummy cookies that I could eat every day!

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser & Facial Radiance Polish

Skincare is one of my favourite beauty things to buy. You really help your skin, instead of just covering it up with loads of make-up. If you have read more skin posts of me, you know that my skin is not in its best condition. Since my Neoderma treatment my skin has changed a lot, but some extra help of new products would not hurt anyone right?

As the skincare addict that I am, I had to try out this new brand. I had never heard of First Aid Beauty before, but lately I have seen it pop up in a lot of Youtube videos. I decided to try out the First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser and the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish. Two products that have made a big difference for my skin.

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser
''FAB Face Cleaner is an airy cream that gently cleanses the skin. The formula is infused with a blend of botanical antioxidants to stave off abuse of the elements. It is well  suited for anyone with sensitive skin. Allergy Tested and Fragrance Free.''

A face cleanser that absolutely changed my life! I want a cleanser that is easy to use and takes my make-up off in one go. This product does this perfectly! I take a pea-size amount in my hand, mix it with a bit of water, massage it into my face and then rinse it off. All the make-up residue is completely gone! My skin feels so soft and clean after using it.
The face cleanser has a creamy consistency with a pearly look to it. There is no scent and a little bit goes a long way, since it is not the cheapest cleanser. I use this in the morning and in the evening and it removes excess oil and make-up super quick!
After all my make-up is removed I use the First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish which I will talk about next.

First Aid Beauty Facial Radiance Polish
''The gentle formula uses natural exfoliants that safely resurface the complexion for smoother, more radiant skin. Allergy Tested and Fragrance Free.''

This face scrub makes my skin even softer and more radiant. It is a very gentle scrub with small scrub beads. I use it at night, after the face wash when my skin is still damp. I massage it into my skin and then rinse it off with lukewarm water. It leaves my skin feeling soft, radiant and glowy. You need a small amount, so for this product also counts that a little bit goes a long way. This product also has a creamy texture and no scent.

After using both of these products for about a month now, I have to say my skin has changed loads. It looks glowy, healthy, more even and my pores are smaller. I still get some break outs on my chin area, but these products make sure that they will not be there for too long!

I would definitely repurchase these products and recommend them to everyone. They are a bit of a splurge, but skincare is something that you should invest in, right?

Have you tried these First Aid Beauty products?

Fun Times in the City

The last two days have been full of activities. I love to catch up with my highschool friends, especially since I don't see them as much as I used too. And what better than to catch up in the city that I love? From a very young age I fell in love with everything that is Amsterdam. Going to the theatre, shopping trips with friends or just a stroll down the canals, I was, and still am, up for everything in the city. Nowadays I usually just take the tube and go to school, so it is nice to be out and about and little by little explore the city.

On Thursday me and my friend went to Artis Amsterdam Zoo. As students in Amsterdam we get a major discount, so it was nice to catch up while walking through the zoo on the hunt for penguins. I also went a bit crazy in the aquarium, because I was on the hunt for clownfish, aka Nemo. The fact that I heard several kids say, 'Where is Nemo??' literally shows that my inner child took over me there.

Last night I had a birthday party to attend at House of Bols, which is a cocktail and genever experience in Amsterdam. I love birthday parties, because they are an excuse for me to dress up and experiment with my make-up. I had a blast sipping on my strawberry and vanilla cocktail. I normally don't really drink, but when you go to an experience like that you just have too! We also explored the night life of Amsterdam around Leidse square, which, for a granny like me, was surprisingly fun!

Tucked up into bed at 3.30 AM is the result that I had a pretty good night and I should definitely do this more often. Only one thing: I will leave my heels at home, because my feet were not very happy with me dancing around all night!

The Classic

Isn't it strange that a scent can bring back so many memories? For me, I always think about the fun and not so fun moments when I spritz my favourite perfume. As for Chanel Coco Mademoiselle, aka my favourite perfume ever, there are only good memories.

It was the first expensive perfume I ever bought, so of course it will always be very special to me. Unfortunately after a couple of years it ran out, so luckily my mom got me a new flacon for my birthday. And yes, my birthday was in April, and yes I haven't opened the perfume till a couple of days ago. Ooopps. Do you have that problem as well, were you bought something expensive and because you paid a lot of money for it you just don’t use it?

Anyways I am happy that I finally took the time to take the foil off and enjoy this scent, because it is freaking phenomenal. It is a very classic, warm scent and perfect for fall and winter! So sorry for all my other perfumes, but you will be abandoned for the first couple of months. #sorrynotsorry.
